The Next Giant Leap

A couple of the final images for our latest college project (an editorial illustration and layout design for an article about the future of space exploration):

Realistically, we’re supposed to believe that it’s never going to be possible for humans to colonise other planets. Our bodies can’t deal with the stress of low-gravity living for long, and the nearest habitable planets (if there even are any) would take a long long long long time to get to. Huh. I think that’s a pretty negative attitude! I like Steven Hawking’s optimism in that programme he did, Masters of the Universe (or something). He said we could build a fusion powered mega-spaceship orbited by detachable pods filled with floating genetically-engineered cyborg babies to be released onto distant terraformed planets – yeeeaaah! That’s the future I want.
