So I’ve been having some fun the last few days working on something a bit different – brooches! I bought a couple of sheets of acrylic and some silver brooch backs, and I’ve made some things. These ones are based on some dog illustrations I’ve done in the past:
Sleeping Red Dog
Dalmatian (he’s not on Etsy yet because I’m wearing him! I’ll make more maybe)
They’re fun to make if nothing else! I’m going to try my hand at some painted wooden badges next, so watch this space!
(P.S. if anyone would like me to make a breed of dog that they don’t see, let me know! I can work from a photograph if you want me to make one of your dog)
Okay, so I’m procrastinating a bit. But I’ve moved on from obsessively playing old computer games to obsessively sketching pictures of Daisy, so that seems like a step in the right direction. Procrastiworking! Yeah.
Daisy doesn’t really understand why I would be standing around, staring at her and making scratchy noises with a pencil – if I’m not busy, shouldn’t I be walking or feeding her instead? Well, probably – that and all of the other thousand things I should be doing. Oh well.
Here are some pictures of Daisy then:
Now I’m going to go and play Mario for a while.
We went in search of the snow today, and found it in the Pentland Hills! Daisy’s got some ishoos with other dogs, so we were pretty pleased to find the hill more or less deserted. Until this happened:
Aaaagh! Millions and millions of dogs (okay maybe more like fifteen, but still) all coming at us, off their leads and just bouncing around all over the place.
I can’t judge – if I were left to my own devices I would easily end up with that many dogs.
Look what I’ve got!
Christmas cards all ready to go, based on these three designs. I’m going to get these up on Etsy soon along with some original sketches and other things that I need to sell in order to eat, but in the mean time let me know if you’re interested in buying any!
They’re printed on satin-coated 350gsm card and are blank on the inside, and come with a plain white envelope. I can sell them individually or in packs of three (or however many you like really).
Anyway, I’ll post again when I’ve wrapped my feeble mind around selling on Etsy and listed some things!
Well it’s been feeling a bit wintery the last few days, so… it doesn’t seem too ridiculous to be thinking about Christmas. Christmas cards, anyway! Here’s some Daisy-based card ideas:
Hopefully I’ll get around to making these into actual Christmas cards for people to buy and send before everybody’s already got some – apparently there are some insanely organised people out there who buy cards before the 20th of December. Unreal. Oh dear, now I feel all festive and stuff.
I did these sketches of Daisy to test out an app I downloaded, Turboscan. I don’t really understand how it works, but it’s pretty good for ‘scanning’ black and white drawings if you only need them at a low resolution.
Daisy isn’t very elegant when she’s asleep!
This is what Daisy actually looks like, by the way:
The mop-like creature perched on the bush is Lewis, who isn’t my dog. He’s a six month old Lhasa Apso and a law unto himself – he’s also for inexplicable reasons the only other dog Daisy really gets on with. They’re an odd pair.
Well, my college Illustration course is coming to an end now and I have the fear. The impending real world is scary! So I’m getting in the habit now of drawing drawing drawing all the time, so I get better and don’t forget how. With that in mind I’m going to keep submitting picture to things like Illustration Friday and What I Wore Today as often as I can!
(Daisy didn’t actually come into college with me by the way, but I like drawing her because she’s pretty)
