I work mainly with “traditional” (hate that word) media; pen and ink, acrylic paint, other mixed media. I like the energy of hand drawn, hand painted illustration. It seems more.. I don’t know, tactile maybe. However, I’m working on my computer skills and am able to edit/provide images digitally using Photoshop and Pixelmator.
When I draw for myself, I draw the things I’m most interested in. Buildings, machines, animals (especially sea animals – they’re so weird), the sea, boats, strange people in cafes, autumn trees… all those things. I’m drawing more and more lately.
I live and work in Edinburgh, where I studied for my HND in Illustration at Edinburgh’s Telford College (useful) and my degree in English Literature at Edinburgh University (less useful). Here’s my little studio (and my not-so-little dog, Daisy):
I’m very happy I’ve found your blog. I love the creative atmosphere it brings. I also liked your work a lot and will be waiting to see more.
Thank you! I’m glad you like it.
Hi, Aimee. I’ve nominated your blog for the One Lovely Blog Award. Whether you go in for blog awards or not, I wanted to let you know how much I love your illustrations.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you like my drawings 😀
I used to work where you studied illustration.
Oh really? Did you teach there? I loved studying there, the illustration teaching staff are great.
Yes. I taught mainly in the radio studio, teaching scripting, recording, studio operations etc.
I also worked in the art dept – scientific and technical graphics.
Give me a name and I’ll give you several back.
